  3. Very nice! Were you using a prime lens? That's the only reason I can think of for cropping the tail :wink:.
  4. Yes UF, 300mm f/2.8. You are right about a bit sloppy composition. I was not particularly being too attentive, basically just trying out this lens (getting used to it).

    From one that does this on a regular basis, you have my total understanding on the tail cut.... :?

  6. Nothing sloppy about it, Frits. The lens you had on your camera at that moment was just a little too long for the opportunity.
    If you had to sacrifice any part of the bird, the tail was the best choice, so it was actually a very careful composition 8).
  7. Very nice shame about the tale but you know we never seem close enough so for those rare occasions when we are the tail must go
