  1. I've been using my 5700 backup camera while the d70 is in the shop.

It's a sweet rig, but to be honest, doesn't hold up against the d70. In fact, t's just gathered dust since I bought the d70 16 months ago. I have an offer to sell it to a neighbor who's just getting into digital photography, and my only concern was what I'd do for a backup.

Eureka! I gifted my Coolpix 995 to my film loving brother when I bought the d70, thinking the 5700 would be my backup. He's never been able to master it, and bought a credit card sized Contex for digital work. I just called him, and he's more than happy to send back my swivel cam!

This will be perfect! Even the d70 with a macro lens can't match the 995 for table top work, and, unlike the 5700, the 995 is small enough to be a true take-everywhere pocket camera! Plus, the image quality is second to none. Heck, some of my very favorite pics were snapped with the 995.

I'm really excited about getting my swivel cam back!

I still have my trusty old 990 and use it. The macros can't be beat! Nice to hear the old dog is coming home.
  4. You (and Jarrell) were smart to hang onto your 990, Baywing. I'm fortunate my brother never mastered the 995, or I'd pay hell getting it back .
  5. And mine!
