I wanted to know what most of the people here use for their backdrop length?

I'm trying to decide between the 53in and 107in gray paper backdrop.

I think you mean width?

The 53 inch width is really only suitable for fairly close pictures of one person. The geometry angles are such that if the subject width is 24 inches, and the background is twice as far as the subject, then it requires 48 inches of background width (and careful alignment).

You could put the subject closer to the background to minimize this width, but then you may cause subject shadows on the background.

You can "test" this width by setting up some subject in front of any wall, to see the wall width that is visible to the camera.

You need the wide one. NEED as in must have unless you are doing portraits like the drivers license bureau where you plaster the victim against the backdrop.

Ideally yjr subject should be 6 feet from the background so you need the wide. Narrow is for table top photos.

yes I meant width.

judging from the pictures I'll be taking, which will mainly be full body, it looks like I'll be getting the 107in.
