The last one looks very much like a chaffinch.

Great series Michael. Your redstart reminded me that I have not seen an American redstart in years -- miss the little devils.

Sweeeeet images! The woodpecker is a gorgeous bird.
  14. Thanks a lot for the comments.

I come to like my backyard more and more each day.....

Unfortunately most of the pictures are heavily cropped (Thanks to 10Mpix).

But sometime in the future a 500mm may find it's way to our home :Crunk:
  15. Nice series Mike, fine detail in all.
  16. That gang looks funny! Nice collection. Although I can dig up lots of Sparrows here, I envy you for having a woodpecker coming to you! Although I know where to find some (more or less) I have to walk quite a bit through the forest to actually find one. Of course with bad light then...

    That "Unknown" is a Buchfink.

I also shot some sparrows in the zoo today (had to look after Knut again  ) which I will post when processed.

That explains the look of some of them. I also had to learn that for little birds you can't have enough focal length. ("Hubraum ist durch nichts zu ersetzen!"). So tell me if the 500mm has found your home, I also peeked at one .
  17. All are so nice. I love the one with the "gang".
