We are leaving for Bangor / Bar Harbor Maine this week. Looking for any recommendations on places to visit, restaurants, and photo ops of landscapes and wildlife. We will be there for a week. Thanks in advance

Ooh. I'd be interested.

We are leaving for Maine on 13 SEP (next Monday).

My plans are to visit Portland, the lighthouse in South Portland. Freeport and LL Bean store ( a landmark).
We will be based in Belfast which has a good location.
Will be visiting a friend in Bangor.

Acadia national Park and Bar Harbor is the main attraction.

Plan to visit the trio of scenic towns Camden, Rockport and Northport on the coast.
Driving mostly on Rte 1.

Do not miss the Penobscot Narrows Bridge.

I read that a side trip to Deer Isle is a must for scenic roads.

On word on food....lobstah! Any food truck along the coast line will have a fantastic lobster roll.

Alex has great suggestions. Check out google images on where you will be heading to see points of interest. We stayed in Camden in 2011 for a week. Was able to get to Acadia for only day, but its worth at least a week there. Supposedly there are moose around but we didn't see any late June. Perhaps September is better month for wildlife as its cooler. Have fun and post pictures!

I am all nostalgic now. I went to MDI High School there before coming back to Europe. Lived in Soutwest Harbor.
I remember walking the back of SWH to the lakes.
I don't know if it is a tourist spot nowadays.
I will try to find the Google Maps location.

Long Pond, south side.
There were some blueberry fields on the way.
And cycling the big loop.
Darn, the house I lived in has been replaced by a shop.
:-(
Fantastic place.

Spent a few hours in Ba Haba. Had a great lunch after the visit to the National Park (hint: lobstah roll!)
Very nice town, but not cheap.

Ba Haba
