A picture i took earlier this year, fast bird but the D300 made it easy to track him

it was very difficult to anticipate the flight path of these guys so i used my trusty 200-400, the ability to zoom in and out was very essential for this bird

You have one advantage over those of us who live farther north, we would love to have sunlight as bright as yours, even so late in the day.
But those guys fly in such an unpredictable way that they are very difficult to shoot and you have got everything right.
