For those of you who have not been to Busch Stadium you are missing out. It is absolutely beautiful.

I went to a game a few weeks ago.

I am posting these just to share for fun, they are pretty soft, but if you look at my equipment, I don't have any fast long glass.

Baseball was a lot more fun for me when I had my camera. Busch has a very generous camera policy - No tripods, no obstructing view......no limits on lenses, cameras, etc.

Anyways, here are some of the pics, I brought the D80 and the lens I brought was the 55-200 vr (variable, but at 200, they were all f/5.6)....ISO varied b/w 100 and 400

I was lucky to have very good tickets (row 4) so I was able to get decent access to some shots, I would love to revisit with a faster lens sometime

view when you look out over the outfield
    NIKON D80    ---    55mm    f/5.6    1/160s    ISO 100

    flyball making a catch
    NIKON D80    ---    200mm    f/5.6    1/160s    ISO 100

    NIKON D80    ---    200mm    f/5.6    1/160s    ISO 100

3rd baseman Glaus - nice chew in the pocket, great for the kids to see
    NIKON D80    ---    200mm    f/5.6    1/160s    ISO 200

Fredbird - looks like I got a little carried away with the colors on this one
    NIKON D80    ---    55mm    f/4.0    1/160s    ISO 400

Miles making a play to first
    NIKON D80    ---    200mm    f/5.6    1/400s    ISO 800

thanks for looking, again I am just posting these for fun

if you have any comments/critique that is not "faster lens" related then please let me know

    little rock ar
but you didn't post the obligatory Pujols shot! Next time save up alot of pennies and get in the Commissioner box seats adjacent to the Cards dugout. I was there for 3rd game of the season against the Rockies and had a blast taking shots in the dugout and on the field.

  3. Nice shots Leighton. As far as C&C, the only things I would suggest are to crop tightly (the mantra on this forum) and maybe adjust the levels a little to increase brightness, contrast. Good job overall.

    lol, just didn't post it

    NIKON D80    ---    200mm    f/5.6    1/160s    ISO 200

thanks a lot for the advice, the white uniforms were definitely a challenge for me so I got the pics a little dark

oh well, that is what gaining experience is for I suppose

    got a few

    NIKON D80    ---    200mm    f/5.6    1/160s    ISO 200

    NIKON D80    ---    200mm    f/5.6    1/160s    ISO 200
  7. What has been your experience in taking photo equipment into Busch Stadium? Can I get by with a D3 & 70-200 VR? Or do I need to take something smaller like the 85 1.4?

the policy on the website doesnt say much, so I called....she said you can bring whatever you want as long as it doesn't obstruct anyone's view

I am not familiar with the size of that lens, so I might be kind of obnoxious

IMO, 200mm was not long enough for where I was sitting (see pic below), so you'd probably want to be closer (like behind the dugout)

I really hope to sit in this section again

    section 163, row D
