This is my son from one of his games. CC welcome.
Congrats Phil, capturing a ball on bat is as notable as catching a trophy bass. I shoot so many images trying to get ball on bat shots, I hate to admit how many images I delete on the computer. If you are asking for CC, I would crop the lady on the left out of the frame.
Thanks Frank, That was funny you mentioned that because i was doing it as you were posting.
What a huge difference your cropping made, I like the transformation.
Almost on the bat

Nice shot Phil. I'm still trying to get one.
Cool picture... what settings were you using? And what lens? I am new to the DSLR I only use Auto mode, but the ball is a blur. Thanks for any suggestions.
I used aperture-priority on that one, and these were the settings.
Camera: Nikon D40
Exposure: 0.001 sec (1/1250)
Focal Length: 180 mm
ISO Speed: 200
shutter prior.1/1000 ,ISO 100,80-200 2.8 or 70-300
Thanks, I take about 200 shots per game. My youngest son plays 7 innings.
I use aperture priority 2.8 and a 80-200 two ring lens w/kenko 1.4. Also I have the MB-D10 grip to give me 8 fps.
Thanks Frank, I like it better to.
