Best Cheap Lens - 200mm f/4 AIS

I paid about $100 for mine at KEH. It's a bit beat up, but all the blemishes are cosmetic and in the paint of the barrel only; the glass is clean. I don't shoot telephoto often, but when I do, I find myself reaching for this instead of the 70-300 VR because of it's compact size.

wow that looks great! I almost pulled the trigger on one of those from KEH just a few days ago, but bought an 80-200 f/4 AIS instead which I think is only a little bigger. Hopefully this zoom will look about as nice as your photos. :smile:

very nice colors and contrast in your pictures. This lens seems to shine on a D700 :smile:.

80/200 4.0 is way bigger, maybe 75%. A 200 4.0 is maybe 6" long and takes 52mm. But the zoom is still a nice lens.

There is something about the Nikon FX sensor that really makes the Nikkor AIS come alive. Not bad for a $100. lens. Great shots.
