This may be a dumb question, but is there an "optimal" size when posting images? I tried doing a search and found information on how to post images, but didn't find any information about the size to use.

I just recently signed up for a Smugmug account and see they have small, medium, and large links. Is one of those better to use than another?

Any advice would be appreciated. What size do you use to upload to a photo hosting site? And then what size (sm, med, lg) link should I use for the Cafe? Thanks!
  2. Sharon,
I use smugmug as well. When I send my images to smugmug I size them 800 pixels on the long side. Then when I post to this forum I select the original size from smugmug. Most editing software will allow you to size with minimal hassle.

Sharon, I also set the max pixel size to 800. I just made my first post of pictures and was happy with the result.

Dave and Haze, thank you both for the information! I will use the 800 pixel size and original from Smugmug.
  5. Most people (myself included) use 800 or so on the long side.
