Right now, for portraits, I'm using what I have on hand, a Gitzo Mountaineer 1228 with a Markin's M-10 ballhead. Problem with this tripod, is it's cumbersome & time-consuming lowering & raising of it's legs via the screw-to-tighten leg locks. I really hate this setup for portraiture. I'd like to get a tripod that adjusts up & down quickly & without much effort. What would you recomend?

In the studio I use a Bogen 3233 with Bogen 3039 Head with
Kirk adapter base. Just crank up the center post.

For field use Gitzo 1228LVL and Gitzo 2380 Head with Kirk base
This tripod has extending center and leveling.

For heavy duty use I have the Gitzo 1325 with leveling head
and Wimberley Head- no extended center.

Yes I do use ball heads for lite stuff.

Some photos of above setups and others.

Ok, thanks Birger, what I did,

was ordered the 3021BN Tripod Legs (only), then I'm going to make use of a Gitzo G1270M Pan/Tilt Video Head I had laying around, then connect my camera with it's RRS L Bracket to it using their B2 LR II Clamp.

That will do the job real well.
