Best way to charge your batteries?

Dec 26, 2010
At least for longevity of lifespan. I have two Li-ion batteries for my camera that I continully rotate thinking they will last longer. I'm not sure I'm using the right strategy. I put the second one in charge at the end of the day after using my camera. Most of the time the battery has a lot of charge left. I then put the other battery in the cam, which might sit a week without use. Now my batteries drain fast even if I don't use my camera.

The question. Is it best to use a single battery till it is dead before charging it? Do Li-ion batteries have a limited number of charges? I remember claim of 1,000 charges for Ni-cad. So, what is the best way to use these batteries?

I usually let my camera batteries drain down to about 25%, then recharge. They have been going now for 4 years, although two of the non-OEM batteries do not last as long as the Nikon batteries.

Get a charger from Thomas Distributing. They have a recycle charging option that will keep your batteries fresh longer. Also check out the Imedion slow-discharge AA batteries. They're amazing. I've bought 32 of them and will probably buy another 16 in the near future.

EDIT: I see now that you were referring to the Nikon batteries instead of AA batteries for a battery grip.
