Bird ID?

    I looked in my book and could not find an ID for this guy.

    I think that's a cowbird.

  4. It's sitting on an upright dead palm tree trunk, the very same one where my woodpeckers built their hole (see other thread).

  5. A cowbird, at least the Brown-headed we regularly find in Florida, has a much stouter bill. This is an immature European Starling.

    Immature indeed! - They shouldn't allow those starling whippersnappers to go around imitating cowbirds - there oughta be a law! It's just one more reason for folks to have such low opinions of starlings in general.
