Bird in the reeds

  1. Those of us who don't have the money for long lenses have to make do. I captured this one at a local bird sanctuary/park. I'd appreciate some feedback!

    Hi Carl,

    I personally love bird images where habitat is prominent in the photo. I think in this situation a different time of day would give better reults. A much lower light angle would give you pleasing results and add a nice warm tone to the image. Still this one has a lot going for it, I like your composition although I would consider a more traditional crop for this one with the bird slightly higher in the frame.

    I spend a great deal of time looking for habitat shots when out in the field and very often switch to a shorter lens for that purpose. They don't always go over well on a bird forum but that's o.k. I love em myself!

    This image certainly tells a story and the cattails are a nice touch. I hope this is helps!
