My D2X is currently in repair for it's backfocusing issue. Another issue are small dark dots that appear at 50% in PS. At 100% and 200% these dots are black squares. Currently, we're leaning toward the idea that these are not dead pixels, but not sure. These squares even appear on images shot in studio at 100 ISO, with normal settings. Has anyone ever experienced this?

    corrupted card maybe?

  3. I have a D2X, but have not seen anything like that. Black square dots are usually associated with "artifacts" of software processing. So, have you tried to reproduce this phenomenon with a software other than PS? The file that produces this "artifact" did it begin it's life RAW or JPG? How was it saved? etc. It might be something unintended in your PP workflow, but what?
