Blackland Prairie Raptor Center

  1. August 16th is the date and 7am to 11am is the time! We'll be able to get up close and personal with the raptors and photograph them! I've posted photos before and will do it again, if asked!

    WHAT: Bird of Prey Photography Day - Photograph hawks, falcons and owls up close positioned/perched in natural settings. Birds will be grouped by family. Focus on one or two species or see all. Shoot till you fill your memory cards.
    WHEN: Saturday, August 16, 7:30a.m. through 11:00 a.m.

    WHERE: Brockdale Park at Lake Lavon (Lucas, Texas) cross streets: Lucas Road (FM 3286) & Brockdale Park Road.

    Highway 75 to Allen, exit Bethany Road. Go east 6.1 miles (Bethany becomes Lucas Road). At light, go

    east on FM 3286 approximately 0.6 miles. Turn on to Brockdale Park Road and go approximately 1 mile.

    COST: Space is limited to the first 100 registrants at $5 per person. Pre-registration is available at www.bpraptorcenter.org by using the Donation page for payment. Please type “Registration for BOP Photo Day” in the Comments section.

    Blackland Prairie Raptor Center is dedicated to environmental preservation through public education and the conservation of birds of prey and wildlife in their natural habitat. Incorporated in 2004, Blackland Prairie Raptor Center has ten permanent resident raptors for Education Programs that focus on the importance of Birds of Prey in the maintenance and measure of a healthy environment. Blackland Prairie Raptor Center, through its work with birds of prey, is a catalyst fostering a positive impact on life and the environment of Texas.

    Blackland Prairie Raptor Center is permitted by both the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department to use raptors in education (MB138982-0 and EDU-0207-818), and is supported in part by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. ###

    Great deal! The former HVRC was charging $100 for a 2-3 hour photo shoot.
