Blue Dasher

  1. This was taken the same day as the Flame Skimmer, but using a more traditional macro set up. Just a 105mm Micro handheld. The sun was bright and I used an SB-800 mounted on-camera - set to fill @ -2/3 stop with the wide-angle diffuser deployed. This allowed me to use f16 @ 1/500 and stiil get the sun acting as the main light.

  2. John, that's a truly increadible image. :-D Your technic seem to have worked fine and the outcome is just excellent.
I like the sharpness, details and the transparency of its wings and the color hue of the leaf!
Your DoF is also perfect, and your lens bokeh gives a nice smooth isolation of your subject!
