Spent some time in the backyard today with the bluebirds. They were coming in and out of the house with bugs every few minutes.

All with D300, 200-400 +TC1.4. And some flash (thanks Troy!).

Thanks for looking!

Great series! Interesting to see their catches! Nice variety.

Were you using a Better Beamer and/or auxilliary flash?

Thanks everybody. Karen, I was using an SB600 without my Beamer. I had it turned up to +3 most of the time.

Very nice series Baxter! Love the close-up view! Today, I saw the first of the emerging Cicadas with the mean little red eyes...these guys will have a feast soon!

Wow, thanks everyone. I'm very lucky to have these in my backyard. At the advice of other Cafe members, I've set up natural perches at logical distances from the nesting box and immediately above it. To answer Mike D's question, I can get within about 20 feet without disturbing their behavior. The male is bolder than the female. If they seem at all hesitant to approach the box, I back up.
