LOVE them! I've been struggling with going there later this month while I'm in SF. Looking at your images definitely make me want to go.

  3. Beautiful! Your b&w work is excellent. Love these shots.

    Thank you both

    I'd recommend it.
I've got close to 60 shots of Bodie (and still some more to add) on my site, from last year and this year, if you want to take a look.

These are great. The black and white conversions are especially nice - would love to hear your technique if you were so inclined. Thanks for sharing in any case.

    Thanks again to all

I just recently started to use the Ps plugin "Nik Software Silver Efex Pro" for the B&W conversions.
It's easy to use, with lots of preset templates to choose from, plus lots of options to tweak the image.
Sometime I create a HDR image before I convert to B&W, just to give more range.
I don't like wishy washy B&W, so I usually choose a high contrast preset from the templates.
Then I tone it with the inbuilt Ps B&W plugin.

    Here's another example:

Thanks for the tip and the additional post. Thom Hogan is touting that software on his site this week. The results speak for themselves.
