I'm thinking of heading out to Boston in the fall from Cali. When does everything change colors and become real pretty? also i'll probably get in a car and head north....maybe as far north as Maine crossing of course through New York.

Hopefully will make it out sometime in September/October

Are there and "Must Stop" places?

    Thanks - Ken

    Boston Foliage

    Ken,

The peak foliage time is different from year to year. A good resource online is foliagenetwork.com. They update several times a week during the season but that won't help you now when you need to make your flight reservations. If you get to Boston any time in the last 2 to 3 weeks in October you're bound to find peak areas somewhere within a 3 hour drive. Look into the Kankamagus Trail (really a road) in the White Mountain Nat'l Forest for lots of great locations either right off the road or within a mile or so hike. If you're going to be here in October you might want to also coordinate the trip with the Head of the Charles Regatta, the largest rowing event in the US. Lots of great photo ops there.
