Until I read your thread, I had never heard of this problem.

Did the computer go thru a huge temp differential?

I hope your problems clear up!

  4. thanks for that link
mac's iMac is now 2 days old
the problem is gone and i cannot see any appreciable haze on the inside of the glass where the fogging occurred

    still ridiculous, however

i appreciate you taking the time to look and comment
    thank you

I remember reading about this problem as well as uneven density problems (darker on the right side of the screen then left). You can inspect for the uneven density problem if you turn the brightness of your display all the way down and then reboot. When its booting up and the apple logo is on the white screen you can check for it. Or choose the solid grey light/medium screen saver and, again turn the brightness all the way down, you can check for it also.

My first iMac needed a new logic board for a freezing problem and when I got it back it had the uneven density problems. Apple replaced it with a brand new one and this one has worked flawless so far.
  6. i'll have to do those checks later, Greg
i haven't noticed any more problems
played with the iMac a bit last night... loading some programs (i was holding off doing this until i thought we'd KEEP THIS ONE

i appreciate your post and advice
