Budget lens lust list

Discussion in 'Lens Lust' started by dengar, Jun 28, 2008.

  1. I figured it would be good to come up with a list of the best buys in lenses for the budget conscious (like me, hehe). It doesn't necessarily have to be inexpensive in price, just a really good buy.

Here are a few that I can think of off the top of my head, used prices are approximate.

    Nikon 50mm 1.8 ($100) - duh!
    Nikon 18-70mm ($175 used)
    Nikon 18-135mm ($225 used)
    Sigma 70-300mm APO ($169, $219 HSM)
    Nikon 28-105mm ($175 used)

    60 Af-d...

..since the new AF-S, they've been showing for very nice prices.

Also the 70-300VR is well worth the $$$.

The 18-70 is an excellent performer. I used one almost daily for four years and loved it. I sold it earlier this year to fund my 17-55. I plan on buying another 18-70 later this summer to use on my D40. The 50mm 1.8D should be in everyone's bag in my opinion. Its a very sharp lens and has great bokeh. What more can you ask for $100?
