Found a new plant in a new place I was trying to explore today. The mosquitoes were so bad, they ran me out. It's called Buttonbush (Cephalanthus occidentalis). I found it in the Lawrence Woods State Nature Preserve in west central Ohio. It's a beautiful and large preserve with a boardwalk made from recycled plastic. I'm not sure how long the boardwalk is because I didn't finish the walk. Will try again after skeeter season passes.

Thought the Buttonbush was very interesting and just thought I'd share.

Thanks Karen. I was more exploring (and swatting) than shooting. Kinda liked the way this one turned out.

Nice shot! I saw some of these blooms while kayaking on a local lake recently. Did not know what they were called, thanks for identifying. Thought they looked like fireworks!

Well done! The comp and DOF are spot on.
Thanks Chad.

Very nice shot of an interesting and unusual flower:cool:. Thanks for sharing, Mike.
Thanks Bob. I thought it was very interesting. They were growing in the water along the edge of a small pond. The skeeters totally disappeared around them too. Not sure if there is a connection to that.
