"Summer Showers"

My first submission attempt. I held off posting to make sure PhotoDawg wasn't going to use one of his images from the event.

This image was during our lunch break at the Huntsville Botanical Garden get together.

Cancun

This is from a week spent dodging hurricanes. We were scheduled to go to Panama City Beach July 9, but got turned away by Hurricane Dennis. So we went to Cancun, instead, and got out just before Hurrican Emily slammed ashore there!

Working on the tan....

Ahhhhh....the days of summer and youth. Frying like a piece of bacon under the hot sun. Gotta think of creative ways to stay cool. ;)

Cool Pics

Well, it's already been a long, HOT & HUMID summer in SE Texas. Almost too hot to even get out to take pictures! So I started thinking  of ways to stay cool while taking more bird photos and this is the result -- unfortunately, this location contributes to my LLD because I need a longer lens to catch the small birds on the feeders!!! :D :D (I actually have a perfect angle on the feeders from this location - just too far for the 300f4 to reach)

This approach does keep you cool while shooting!!

(BTW - partial credit to my wife, Bren, who took this for me with her Coolpix 5200)

ROSES IN THE PARK, picture taken this morning with the 85PC micro-nikkor, since i forgot to bring my lightmeter, the exposure had to be guessed and check in playback where i was told if it was overexpose.

Submission: Summer Weeding

When many of you thinking of verdant lawns, it's the fire season here in California. Nothing is more important than cutting back the tall grasses and weeds that have sprung up from the winter rains. Our summers are characterized by drought and we are ever mindful of the fact that water is a precious resource.

Here I captured a neighbor doing the annual chore. The dust and pollen are everywhere.

Summer feeling!

So here's my entry for the Challenge #9:

Title: "Summer feeling"

I tried to capture the colors and the "mood", associated with summer!
You might judge yourself, if I succeeded :?:  :?:

My first contest.

Summer here means kids are on holiday, the heat is around 100F (35C). Best place to be - except an airconditioned room - is in a nearby forest. Kids have fun on the playground.

Waterlogged

With the temperature in Chicago climbing over the century mark on Sunday, July 24 for the first time in six years, the best way to beat the heat is in the cool soothing water of a swimming pool.

Summer is a time for outdoor exercise, as evidenced by this feline athlete.
