Hello all,

I was hiking with the girls at Rocky Face Mountain Park in Alexander County (North Carolina) over the weekend. It's a reclaimed rock quarry that's now used for hiking and climbing.

We came across this wildflower. I've done an Internet search and I haven't had any luck identifying it. And I admit that wildflowers are not my area of expertise.

Would any of you know what this is?

Thanks a lot for your help.

Hello all,

I found a contact address for the park, and a ranger told me it was striped garlic (Allium cuthbertii). She said it was a rare plant.

They also have prickly pear cactus, which was in full bloom (bright yellow flowers) when we were there.

Thank you all for your help.
