Can CDs and DVDs be recycled?

I have a lot of old discs. Instead of tossing them and having them end up inthe landfill, can they be recycled? If so where and how?

They must be. I know at the Univ of Oregon they have(or used to have) recycling bins just for CDs.

A little googling and i found a few companies that do it. However none are local and you have to mail them the discs.
