This is an interesting shot. It was a D2X shot... (me and the wife by the way)

Guess what time of day, ISO, exposure time, EV compensation? Don't bother checking the EXIF...there isn't any :)

This was opened in NC...sent to PSCS...resized and saved for web.

I was suprised...and I shot it! (actually the self timer shot it).

Only a guess...but taken at 5:30 am...ISO 400, 1/250 sec., Fill Flash used, +.3 EV

and if I am anywhere even half-way close, that's a miracle!!! :?

Hey Frank

WRONG!

Not even close :)

It only looks big cause they stuck such a huge hood on the darn thing?

I like the light grey one....I blend in with the Canon boys :)

I'd guess around 5AM. ISO800. No EV? Longer exposure? Either that or in the evening. (The building's windows on the top left seem 'blown', probably because of a longer exposure and your shadows.)

Hi Jim,

I'm with Frank on the time. Since you're on the beach, the shadow direction indicates the sun is to the east, therefore it's got to be early morning. Besides, you are bundled up pretty well, so there's still a morning chill in the air.

Regarding the other settings, I would say it's a fairly long shutter speed, maybe 1/30 or longer. No clue on ISO, etc.

Best wishes,

David

Do tell. The suspence is killing me.

Are you going to say the shot was taken at 10 PM under moon light??

Before You Reveal the EXIF

Whoa! This looks awfully close to what I use on my D70.

My take on this is this:
Time of Day: 5pm - 6pm
WB: Shade
Exp Comp: -0.7EV

The other stuff, but I might be off though:
Saturation: Moderate or Enhanced
Contrast: +1 (if I'm correct, you should really try -2 :) )

Settings like those often produce results close to those published Velvia shots you see places. Using a polarizer also helps.

Kind Regards,
Przemek
