It's not hard to guess but it is something you don't see every day.
It looks like the hood ornament on a fire truck of some kind from the reflection. Am I close?
My guess is an old-timey gas pump...
I think it is a hood ornament on an American LaFrance fire truck.
A radiator cap that registers coolant temp. From antique fire engine.
All that guessed it was a radiator cap from an antique fire engine are correct. Thanks for the guesses. Sorry Leigh, your guess did have something to do with autos etc. but I'll bet your guess next time will be right on.
American LaFrance was a classic fire engine for years. They still produce some sort of fire apparatus today, but I don't think that they are too popular any longer. Years ago, they were the "gold standard" for custom fire apparatus.
