I am looking for a way to get better noise reduction than Lightroom 2 offers but don't want to have to save an image, reopen in a separate program, save the image, then reimport it into Lightroom and now having 2 copies. I would be ok with right clicking an image in LR2 to open it up in Photoshop CS2 and using a Photoshop plugin to process and then returning it to LR2 if that will work. Has anyone done this? What is the best Noise reduction plug-in or software? I have looked at Noise Ninja, Noiseware, NeatImage, and Dfine. I think they all have Photoshop plug-ins. Is there a Lightroom plug in for noise?

You can use Noise Ninja as either a standalone external editor or as a Photoshop plugin. In either case, you would select "Edit with (PS or NN)" in LR and the external app would place a tiff (with NR applied) alongside the original upon saving.

Thanks. Does Photoshop return a TIFF as well or a PSD?

  4. I think with PS you have a choice. That may also be the case with LR.
