Caracara with Nesting Material

Had a great morning photographing a pair of Caracaras busy building nest. I don't know much about this bird but they are very hardworking and smart. Background is the distance trees.

Nikon D3S + 600VR + 1.4TC, 1/1600SS, f 7.1, ISO 1000, +1/3 EV

Wow Troy, that's a cool shot. In almost every caracara shot I've seen, the bird is on the ground. Not only is this a great flight shot, it's an interesting one with the nesting material. I continue to be amazed at the quality you get at high ISOs on that D3S.

D700 would do just fine around up to ISO1600

It is the optics that makes the difference.
