I haven't posted in awhile. I've been lurking .
Thank you, Gregory, for suggesting that I put this one "out there."

As we discussed, in between the good ones are hundreds that don't work.
I wanted to wait until I reached the next plateau (thanks for the term) before posting again.
I'm not quite there yet but I wanted to share.

More urban landscapes here.

Thanks,

I was wondering where you were, as I hadn't seen you or your images in awhile. I love pop of red against the snow, the wall and the ground. Very textural and quite nice!

I think you are there. Well done.
Thank you, Les!

Hello Lyndee, thank you for stopping in, and I really appreciate your comment. I've had "post phobia" since my threads on street shooting didn't really take off. That's my next goal - maybe I should say the next frontier ...

Very nice, Cat. But what is with the one shot . And the link to your SmugMug . You have been doing some killer work. Put it out there.

Start with the stuff you PM'd me today. When I saw those images under the ice, I said out loud, OMG. You are now my favourite photographer.

No longer let your lack of confidence hold you back. Spank the monkey. Monkey, monkey, monkey.
For a long time you said I "inspired" you to get out there and take pictures. Well, I'll tell you straight up that it's a two-way street. And now your photography is inspiring me.

One other thing. Get used to the idea that you’re going to take plenty of ****ty photos because I don't care who you are, we all do more often than others might think. And while your skill and expertise will continue to improve and become more refined, like it or not, in many ways it's a numbers game. There is no getting around it. Burn film like it's free. Fill up the hard drives.

Sometimes you walk up and all the forces in the universe align; you click and it's a masterpiece. More often than not, it's a long hard road with more failures than keepers. You've got to keep yourself from getting too "up" or too "down." Find the middle way and never get off the path. And if you do, get back on where you got off and keep going.

Especially if you run into rough patches in the your photographic journey. And you’re going to. We all do.

Remember when I said "Sometimes you have to go down and back before you can go forward?"

Do you know how many lousy photos I take in a year ? And I keep them all as reminders for the times I get to thinking that I'm "all that" and my head gets all swelled up and stuff.

Just keep banging away and never let anyone or anything let you take your eye off the ball. You’re a photographer, Cat. You're one of us.
Lead the way. I am right beside you.

Looking forward to your next hundred posts.

I agree with Gregory 100%...!

I will add; shoot for yourself, for what pleases you... If others like it that's
wonderful (and we all like to be liked) but don't live for what others think
"only"... You must be true to yourself first... If others don't get it then it's
a reflection on them, not you...

As for this shot, I like it...!

Bravo, good job...!

Wizzard: I take the pictures I think ought to be taken. It's almost like there isn't a choice. To walk by something screaming for my attention seems criminal, even reprehensible.
I sometimes wonder if those unseen forces aren't trying to influence me .

I'd like - in fact, I would love - to give credit where it's due. Gregory taught me about photography, and I had many chances to observe his choice of subject.
Otherwise, I would never have thought of taking some of these pictures. Thank you, Greg, for giving me a reason to look up, and a reason to feel good about myself.

Interesting views! I like the doors, the tires, the tree shadow on brick, and the dancing re-bar (great title). There's always something interesting to shoot in a big city. Thanks for showing these to us -

I want to thank everyone who commented on this thread. It means a lot to me!

I won't be able to hold up a monthly project; not sure why I suggested this to a moderator.

So ... until we all meet again somehow, somewhere ... another one for the road.
Gregory might not be on board with me posting this one  but to me, it's about using my imagination and just having fun ...

Hey Steve, how can I do this whole "swan song" thing when you're making me feel so great! It reminds me of performances at the National Arts Centre here in Ottawa. The show hasn't really ended until everyone gets up for at least 2 standing ovations .

Thanks again, friend!
Have a super day.

That is incredible Cat. All those textures and colors. Keeps me just staring at the image. And as I've always said - If you're having fun, you're doing it right!
