I had an invasion of Cedar Waxwings here at the house a couple of weeks ago. They were feasting on the Holly bush next to my porch. There had to have been at least 50+ of them flying around. Here are a couple of shots I was able to get with my D700, 70-200 F2.8 VRII and TC-20E II. (Boy, I miss my 300 f/2.8)

  2. These are great even with what I assume is a bit of a crop, they are one of my favorite birds

Thanks Andreas, yes, they were cropped. Shot at 400mm and f/5.6 due to the TC, and not great light, so it was 1/500 I believe and most are ISO 2000-4000 (or maybe a bit higher). Hence the reason why I miss my 300 that I used to have. One day I'll buy another one.

  4. Beautiful shots Dave. One of my favorite birds. Hope they'll be moving up my way soon.

  5. Awesome set of images, Dave. Those guys are so beautiful and you did them justice.

  6. super set...............

  7. Great colors and crisp shots. Really like the action with the berries. Try out the 300 f/4 PF! Its strong and handles TC's well. Super light weight and sharp

  8. Dave, these are great, and some wonderful series---2, 3 &4 for example.

  9. I agree that waxwings - both cedar and bohemian - are fun to watch and photograph.
