Census...please re Canon 500D on the 70-200

Discussion in 'General Technical Discussion' started by Bohdan, Dec 8, 2005.

  1. I know a lot of you out there use this combination...I'm curious as to who uses autofocus or do you set the lens and camera on Manual focus.... The instructions that came with the 500D indicate the need to focus manually....this is not so easily using the D70 .

I use autofocus with the 70-200, then finalize manually. Remember, on the 70-200 all you do is turn the focus ring to over-ride auto! It couldn't be sweeter or simpler..
  3. Thanks for your reply Randy..

I use both. AF gets the initial focus, and then I fine-tune manually (important if you have a specific set of items to keep within the DOF.

  5. You have to manually move the whole rig into the zone as there is little focusing room once you attach the 500D. Then I use autofocus to make it grab onto what I want.
  6. Thanks Bob and Sandi for your advice
