Strobist posted about this yesterday: http://strobist.blogspot.com/2011/05/if-ikea-made-ring-flash.html

It's a simply made, plastic, assemble it yourself ringlight adapter, similar to an Orbis or Rayflash, but only $25. Everybody who's used one has had good things to say about it.

I ordered one as soon as I read the article. With the optional camera bracket (without it, you have to put it on a lightstand) and shipping, it was still only $41, so I figured I didn't have too much to lose. I'll be taking it to a convention later this month, and I'll use it when shooting comic book/animation costumers, which is a pretty steep test for mobile lighting gear (since people expect studio-esque results from run n' gun, mobile, 30min impromptu setups), and I'll report back on the performance.

Mine just came. Pretty fast shipping.

I'll do a more thorough review later, but here are a few quick points:

-Assembly was quick and easy

-It's sturdier than I though it'd be. Not gonna throw it in with my lightstands, but I don't need to freak out about it either.

-The bracket is basically useless. The contraption is way too big and heavy when put together, and the bracket itself is way too thin and flimsy to support the setup. I'll stick with a lightstand.

-The light quality is actually really nice. It's soft, and it's shockingly even. There was no detectable gradient on my white floor-ceiling blinds at 24mm, a shot in the mirror revealed little difference in the ring itself, and some quick snaps of the girlfriend looked pretty nice. The face of the unit is cool, it's got a pattern of dots, dense toward the bottom and less as it goes up the ring, to give some ND filtration of a sort and even the light out.

More in-depth stuff coming later on.
