Checking the mirror after a vigorous scratch

    I got new glasses today and can see much better close up and noticed your avatar. Is that a Falcon catching a gull?

    Thanks Dave, Dianne, Sam, Robert, Andy and Connie. Just having some fun with the poor bird.

    Andy - the avatar is a hawk catching a gull in flight. I captured it by pure luck when all I had was a 70-300G. It was one of my first posts here. I was shooting a heron at the same spot where I took the photos in this thread, saw something out of the corner of my eye, swiveled and caught a few out-of-focus shots and four good (by 70-300G standards) frames:

    When I posted these originally someone told me I could go ahead and retire. I've had a lot of fun since then, but I have to admit that nothing's made my heart pump the way this did. I was shaking.
  8. Great catches on the GBH. Your first shot is aewsome, sharp and well exposed. But your hawk with the sea gull shots are terrific, excellent job in getting the sequence of shots.
