When I was in high school in the mid 1960s, one of my teachers complained during class that she didn't understand why the current generation of male teenagers was wearing their hair so long. She advocated restricting the length for anyone attending public school. One of the students reminded her that when her generation were teenagers, they were climbing flagpoles and swallowing live goldfish for fun. That pretty much ended that discussion.
