Saw the Chihuly exhibit at the de Young Museum in Golden Gate Park
in San Francisco.

Really captivating and colorful exhibit. Fun stuff to shoot too
(though no tripod or flash allowed).

I figured that the slow shutter speeds would result in camera
shake so I thought I could try playing around with zooming while
exposing.

Also tried moving the camera (up and down) while exposing:

Nice captures! Dale is a talented artist and has raised the bar for glass blowing as an art form. Love the colors in the last pic. Thanks for sharing.......

Cheers

Understand, he hasn't made his own art for many years. All his current stuff is a result of his team who designs and makes it for him. He says he has artistic input. Most of what you currently see is the artistic talent of those that work for him.

Ted and Douglas, thanks for looking at my take on Chihuly.

They were showing a video of the making of Chihuly glass and
it was a team of artists actually making the glass.
It looked like Dale Chihuly was providing some direction or
artistic guidance but not doing the actual glass manipulation.

The Chihuly name seems to have become a brand name now.

Whether or not Dale Chihuly did the work or a team employed by
him, I enjoyed the exhibition. The color and shapes were entirely
captivating to me.
