I hear these things all over but can't find them in the trees. Nice capture. Wish I could find one!!

Just wait till you have lived through 14 year or 21 year hatching of these things. It would take pages to describe the noise and mess. As a child in the country, you could tell how hot the day would be by listening to when they would sing. That is a fact.
I've lived through 3 emergences of the "Brood X" 17 year cicadas now. (Okay, that makes me feel really old.)
When they show up, they take over the great outdoors. There's millions of them. They're big, dumb, and loud, and they tend to crash into anything and everything. It's quite a site to behold.
