Cincinnati Favorites...A Dozen

Discussion in 'Landscapes, Architecture, and Cityscapes' started by gnagel, Aug 10, 2018.

  1. Last month, I visited Cincinnati for a few days to coach my 11U travel baseball team in a tournament just outside the city. During tournament play, we had some downtime, so I drove into the city one afternoon to capture some photographs. Late one night, I went back for a cityscape. That picture wasn't taken until about 9:30 PM.

During my short stay, I ended up with 80+ images. Here are a dozen of my favorites:

1- Skyline from across the Ohio River
    NIKON D850    ---    40mm    f/8.0    1/1s    ISO 64

2- Roebling Suspension Bridge into downtown
    NIKON D850    ---    38mm    f/9.0    1/50s    ISO 64

3- Palm Street Temple (or Isaac M. Wise Temple)
    NIKON D850    ---    15mm    f/8.0    1/30s    ISO 64

    4- Fire Escape Stairs
    NIKON D850    ---    200mm    f/8.0    1/100s    ISO 64

    5- City Hall
    NIKON D850    ---    14mm    f/10.0    1/25s    ISO 64

    6- City Hall
    NIKON D850    ---    135mm    f/8.0    1/100s    ISO 400

    7- Contemporary Arts Center
    NIKON D850    ---    14mm    f/9.0    1/5s    ISO 64

    8- Ascent Condominiums
    NIKON D850    ---    150mm    f/9.0    1/13s    ISO 64

9- John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge
    NIKON D850    ---    34mm    f/9.0    1/80s    ISO 64

10- Cityscape (this is a massive panoramic...)
    NIKON D850    ---    32mm    f/8.0    1/125s    ISO 64

    11- City Hall
    NIKON D850    ---    15mm    f/8.0    1/30s    ISO 64

    12- Great American Ballpark
    NIKON D850    ---    14mm    f/8.0    1/8s    ISO 64

Thanks for looking...now it's time to start processing the photographs from my long road trip through Nova Scotia and Newfoundland!

These are fantastic, Glenn! I've always had an interest in Cincinnati. I've been a couple of times, but each time I was passing through. I am going to definitely take the time to make a visit.

Question - is the John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge a pedestrian walkway?
  5. Thank you, Lyndee...this was the first time I spent more than a few hours in Cincinnati. It seems like a great city.

Yes, the Roebling Suspension Bridge is a pedestrian walkway. #2, for example, is shot from the bridge itself.

  6. Made me call my wife into the room. (That's a good thing) The Reds park is sweet. These are some amazing images.
  7. Thanks Bobby...there's a story behind every picture. Tripods aren't permitted at the Great American Ballpark, but nobody said I couldn't bring a ballhead on a clamp into the stadium!

  8. WOW
    What great photos
    No favs here
    Love them all

    Thanks Cabin...much appreciated!

  11. Great set, Glenn! My wife is from Cincinnati, and we know a lot of these viewpoints well, in particular the views across the river with the bridges! I showed her your pictures and she loved them!

    Thanks for sharing!

  12. Thanks Mike...it's always nice to hear when someone from the area likes the photographs of a city that they are so familiar with!

  13. Super set Glenn!
  14. Thanks again, Binnur
