I had my walking around rig with me (300mm) intending to do some birdscapes but came upon a most cooperative YCNH. This bird came over to where I was sitting and stared at me for several minutes as I talked to it. It went on about its business and caught and ate 3 crawdads right in front of me. I love when the unexpected happens in a good way.

On the way out I stopped and photographed a few other subjects.

    A juvie YCNH coming in.

I was also thrilled to finally capture a moment I had been wanting for some time. These Kingbirds are plentiful but I wasn't completely happy with any of my images that showed the parent/young interaction. These two come close and I was happy to get them.

    so cal
    Now thats some great work!

  3. Great set, Andy. You must have a way with words to have such a calming effect on the YCNH. I guess everybody came away happy but the crawfish.

  4. Nice set Andy, I saw them this morning when a family of 8 Egrets came flying in and took over, except for the blues, of course.

That's very kind of you say. Thanks!

Thanks Dave. The crawfish weren't happy for sure.

I hope to get there sometime tomorrow. Need to shoot something.

Thank you very much Gale. I felt strange talking to a bird but he/she stayed calm and went on about their business after our conversation.

Wow Andy. Excellent catches. Looks like I should have come yesterday instead of this morning. It's very cloudy right now, but I'm headed out anyway. Maybe I'll see you there.
