(Close up) St. Augustine, FL Surfing

The waves were breaking in close because the swell was fading. Typically I shoot surfers with more wave/environment in the frame but I told the guys I was gonna shoot some close ups, facial expressions, etc., and they were happy to oblige. Plus I was shooting with a 300 f/4 on the gripped D-300 and wanted to stay at the water's edge, so there ain't much crop on these.

We do...in the deeper water...see the bg, but with waves close to the beach, lots of sand gets sucked up the face of the wave from the turbulence of previous waves. That's why when we get dropped a few times we often have sand in our ears in the shower that night.

Nice..will be down in St Augustine in a couple of weeks. Around 4th street on the beach. Hopefully we will have some surf if not will SUP,
