Closeups with 24-70

I have played around with it shooting close objects, but here are a couple I just shot for you. Wind isn't helping. Handheld. First at full size, 2nd at 50% crop.

Thanks, Nick and Terri, for these nice examples. Looks like it would serve pretty well for my wildflower photography.

That seemed like a lot until I realized that my 35mm/f2 prime lens, which is my closest focusing non-macro lens, has a 9.6-inch minimum focus distance, only 2 1/2 inches different.
I got my info from Thom Hogan's review where he says:

Curiously, the lens has a very close focus point of 12" (0.3m), which produces a maximum reproduction ratio of 1:3.3, which is nearing macro range.
