No issues whatsoever. When the D500 first came out Nikon specifically bundled the 200-500 with it and labeled it as a wildlife kit. I still have the box that the combo came in.

With the 1.4tc it loses a stop of light so wide open is f8. It's not as quick to focus and loses a tiny bit of sharpness. It will work but be prepared for those comprises.
My thoughts exactly. I've shot thousands of images with this combination and it remains impressive. Obviously you need to work with the light you have...f/5.6...but when you get comfortable with this set up it'll be a blast to shoot. I have not tried a teleconverter with it, but as Bill said, there will be limitations.
