I picked up the July edition of B&W magazine today. On pages 98 and 99 are two fine photographs by NB23! I showed the magazine to the clerk at Barnes and Noble, and said "I know him. The photographer that is." Just so she didnt think I knew kids in the pictures. Congrats Ned! What an accomplishment!

Whoah! Thanks Chris!

You know, some years back I won a prize and I showed the magazine pic to the clerk... He couldn't care less. LOL  Talk about bursting my bubble! hehe!

Add my admirations and congratulations!
Thanks Dave!

The copy is worth only because it's thick and shows some exquisite work and the prints are of very nice quality.

I'm not sure this is is a big honor though (who am I kidding!) The thing is, I took the time to send a CD to the magazine and hoped for the best. That's probably the only and main difference between getting published or not. There's so much quality work in the Café and in this entire forum that all of us would stand a real chance.

So next time, guys, it's your turn! :Guns:

Awesome! Congrats Ned, I'll look for the magazine but I don't think they sell it here =(. Could you post the images up? I'm quite curious to see them =)

The mag is available around the world so you might find it in a serious book/magazine store. Thanks for your kind words. Here are the 2 chosen images:

Congratulations Ned. Those are incredible images.
Thanks Gavin! Yep they're unique for sure. I doubt I'll ever have the chance to shoot such raw images again...

You were right, I found it in the American Book Center in Amsterdam. I picked up myself a copy as there is some great stuff in there, yours being no exception! I had to fold the bag while walking home as I got stuck in a rain storm and I didn't want it to get wet. Nasty weather but somewhat welcome after the really hot weather today, being stuck in a little room with tons of PCs and people with no air-con was like hell!! I will enjoy looking through this tonight while I relax in to the weekend, thanks also to Chris for tipping us off about this =)

Congrats again to Ned (now I've actually seen it XD), the pics look awesome! and I wish everyone a lovely weekend =)

i drove the truck over across town to Copperfield's, perused the three copies of BWSPECIALISSUE, looking for signs of thumb wear, chose the copy deemed less thumbed, went to the register where the punky clerk rang me up fast telling me the cost and asking how i was doing today, i said i was waking up slowly and then i started to write the big check and had to ask what the cost was again and what the date was today, and she'd already picked up the magazine and was thumbing thru it and stating "This is a nice magazine"
"yes i sez, a friend of mine is in there" grabbing the mag from her greasy hands, flipping thru the pages to show her "See?..that's Ned!" "Hey, why's that look familiar?...Serbia?..does he live around here?".....

Hehehe!! What a beautiful story =) I too took the best of three, lots of greasy tourists in Amsterdam =(. Thankfully my sales clerk was uninterested and fairly ungreasy. Going to look through it now as I listen to the rain in the nice, dry, cozeyness of indoors =)

LOL Rodney! Great story and you got me laughing there. Yes, the "are you serbian" thing is the classic everywhere I go.

I'm glad you bought a copy, Rod
