I'm sure this topic has come up before, but here goes:

I have some photos that I took in a city at night. Many of the buildings (hotels, restaurants etc) have their brand name and/or logos on them.
Is it a violation of © laws to post those photos publicly?
If not, is it illegal to apply my watermark to a photo that contains a commercial trademark, logo or brand name within the subject of the photo?

    Thanks so much.

  2. It's not illegal to just post them; if you were to use the pictures for any financial gain, then you'd start to enter darker waters. Do a google search on "fair use" to see the types of situations in which you can include a copyrighted or trademarked entity in your work.

    Thank you Sean,
I have no intentions other than posting. (my first real night shoot).
"Fair Use": thanks for the terminology to research!
    Much appreciated.
