Nothing special. Tried the 80-400vr with 32mm tube today. The 2nd one has a little bit of subject motion blur. Maybe I will put the R1C1 kit to it and see what I can come up with.

I think the first is a hoverfly. Nicely focussed
  4. Well done on both of these!

I think I can improve on these. Yesterday was the first try with the tubes on the 80-400. It handles a little different than the 300/4 with tubes. The 300 was tripod mounted and setup some place convenient. Today I may add the R1C1 flash kit and a mono-pod.

Nice images. Handheld or Tripod? VR or Not?

Both images look great for handheld that's for sure, nice job. The yellow Jacket in the second shot hopefully isn't living with a family in your garden hose. - Jeff
  9. Considering the optical combo, these are not bad at all, especially #1!

It is a bee, but a rather unusual one - Anthidium oblongatum. The genus also occurs in Europe but one doesn't get to see them very often.

The second one is a wasp.

I keep an eye out for nests. Our kids spend a lot of time in the backyard/garden and I remember what is was like to make a hive angry.

Thanks for the detailed info Harry. I will try to get some different shots of it next time I see it.
