More for id help than anything. Lack of any amber that I can see I have to select ruby meadowhawk over band winged or western. Again I only have that little Stokes guide for help.

Nice shots. I think your id might be correct although with some of the Sympetrum species it's very small details that differ. This is maybe a younger male so he will have stronger colors as he matures.

yeah my guess would be a young Sympetrum rubicundulum (Ruby Meadowhawk) because his body isn't nearly as red as the ones I've shot

Glenn, Very nice dragon shots. It really is hard to tell some of them apart, so I'm going to side with Torben... he's been at this longer than I have.

Very nice series 3cats!

I would say from those you mentioned it´s the Ruby one...those others have some coloured areas on their wings but Ruby doesn´t, only some very little yellow markings...
