Got a question guys. I have lens for my D7000 that have 52mm, 67mm, & 77mm filter threads. Can I get away with just buying a CP filter for the 77mm lens & using step up rings for the 67 & 52mm lenses. Save some money if I can. Any disadvantage to doing this.

Along with not being able to use your hoods, you may want to buy an extra 77mm lens cap. You could also get a 77mm screw on lens hood to mount to the front of the filter. Otherwise, there is not much problem in using the 77mm filter with step-up rings.

Thanks much guys forgot the lens hoods completely. Maybe I just will buy one for each lens. Seems like a whole lot less trouble than switching things around
