Hi, Georgie and I went for a walk on the seawall of Stanley Park to stretch our legs and watch the seagulls. One gull caught a crab and had a bit of trouble with it.

#1 Got ya... Shot with the D500 and the 200-500 F5.6 zoom at 500 mm.
I watched the bird dive in and come up with a crab. It was a little feisty, so he dropped it and grabbed it again. This went on for a few times until the crab started falling apart....

Those seagulls are resourceful, my personal favourite if gagging on a starfish.

yummm, yep, those seagulls eat anything, even french frys:cool:
Hi Darrell, Yes seagulls are the gluttons of the sea. It is sometimes fun to go to Granville Island and watch the seagulls steal the tourist's food.

Super series!
Thanks Dossy, I was really out to give Georgie a walk, but she is such a photo-Dog-rapher so we had fun shooting the seagulls.

I love watching what critters do. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Dan, I really love to watch animal behavior as one can learn a lot about the natural world.

Cheers,

Nice series...a very familiar sight with seagulls. They snag a lot of crabs around the Lake Erie area. I've even seen them intentionally drop the crabs in flight onto the concrete a few times to "tenderize" them.
