Good Morning!

The theme for this weeks shoot is a little different, but please bear with me...

This week we are looking for lowercase letters in our environment. Now, that doesn't mean that you should go out and take pictures of signs

What that means is that you are looking for objects that happen to form letters. For example:

A lowercase t

A lowercast x
(This "counts" because it's a found object that happens to have a letter shape)

And an O

So, why are we looking only for lowercase letters? Because I hope to do an uppercase set another time. Where did the idea come from? I stole it. The craft stores in my area (and probably in a lot of areas) have sets of black and white prints that you buy in 5x7 size of letters to spell things out. And quite frankly, a lot of the letters are good, but some are just bad, and I think we can do better! My vision (if people are interested) is to have everyone send me the full size version of their images in 5x7 size (with your mark on it of course!) so that we can make words out of our images. I'm happy to host them all, I have a number of websites that just sit around not doing anything!

I think black and white will make them work together in a more uniform manner, but b/w or color is fine. And no worries if we have multiple versions of the same letters.

So... get looking!

A small game hunting expedition!

Do punctuation marks count too? [need those to build your sentences:smile:]

Eric (catalyst) found a way to spell Nikon Café using chemical symbols -- we should be able to do that with our images:wink:

Obviously, you have started the gears moving, Michelle:cool:

I like them!

I wonder how h would look with a really shallow DOF? I really like that tree in the background though, so I don't know if it would help or hurt it.

Good find on the y, I'm assuming you didn't cheat? lol

Not cheating, just a matter of looking around the canal bank for the right two sticks. Actually had a "v" but the background was almost the same color as the letter and did not want to move it (cheat).

edit: ok I did blur the background on the "y", is that cheating?

lol I had a great one at my house, but totally cheated with it... not that anyone would know, but I suppose breaking my own rules wouldn't be part of "the spirit of the game"!!

I'm wondering who's going to take on the hard letters. I have some that I took a few months ago that I'm going to go re-take in better lighting.

my contribution

Ed, you caused me to think of this one:wink: – a couple of shed deer antlers.

Thanks for hosting Michelle. No worry, still early. Here are a couple from me.

want to see someone come up with a "q", "e", or "f".

Ed, per your request. Still owe you a "q".

Not the best quality. The slight breeze made manual focus is a bit challenging.

It's a great project. So far I've looked around and around and the only thing I've come up with is the letter "O". I'll keep looking and hopefully get an image in time to submit for this CS.
